Introducing one of our ex-RSPCA adoption legends, Albus Dumbledog (affectionately known as Albie).
Albie has a heartwarming story to match his amazing personality. He was brought into care at RSPCA Burwood East as part of an Inspectorate seizure. While we were awaiting the outcome of the court case, we noticed that Albie had lost trust in humans due to the significant trauma he had experienced, and we knew he would need rehabilitation to gain his confidence back. RSPCA Victoria’s offices are set up so we can help all sorts of different animals regain their confidence at their own pace. Our Animal Attendants worked with office staff to develop a plan with Albie to help him build trust. Albie began to visit his new office friends every day. During this time, he began to gain more confidence in himself and the people around him. After eight months of building this trust up with office visits and friendly interactions, RSPCA Victoria was given permission for Albie to go into foster care. During his foster period, Albie’s connection with his carer and her existing dog grew and they developed an incredibly strong bond. Experiencing life outside the shelter did wonders for Albie’s confidence and he blossomed in foster care. After 466 days in care with RSPCA Victoria, Albie’s foster mum signed the adoption paperwork. Albie found his forever home. Albie now lives a life of love, adventure, and sunbaking with his foster brother Denny.
